Course Description

We will take a deep dive into the short stories every student needs to know! We will look at the history and lives of famous authors, read their short stories and create fun, hands-on, meaningful writing and reading activities as well as cool projects about their wild short stories. Monday February 23 - Edgar Allan Poe - The Raven, Guy de Maupassant - The Necklace Thursday February 25 - Roald Dahl - The Landlady and Royal Jelly Monday March 9 - Ray Bradbury - All Summer in a Day and The Veldt Thursday March 12 - Shirley Jackson - The Lottery, Kate Chopin - The Story of an Hour Homework/Time Commitment: Knowledge of short stories is a bonus - they are all middle school stories - but appropriateness for certain children is up to the parent Supply List for Students: Printed hand-outs, paper, pencils/pens, water colors, glue, scissors, markers, etc.
