Course Description
Discover your voice, take action, and make an impact! In this class, students will explore their interests, identify needs within their communities, and learn how they can advocate for positive change. Through engaging discussions, persuasive speeches, community proposals, and hands-on projects, students will develop real-world leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. By the end of the course, students will have the confidence and tools to turn their ideas into action and become meaningful change makers in the communities around them. Homework/Time Commitment: Students will identify a local place or group where they would like to make a positive impact. Examples may include organizing a neighborhood or beach cleanup, beautifying a park, visiting a senior living community, supporting a city community center, helping at an animal shelter, or volunteering at a food bank. During weekly visits, students will observe their surroundings, take notes, interview community members and leaders, and explore how the location or service could be improved. They will then use their findings to develop a meaningful community improvement proposal and plan for positive change.
