Course Description

Good writers follow certain steps in order to write effectively. In this 8-day writer’s workshop, your students will learn the steps of the writing process and how to organize and write a paragraph with a topic sentence, 3 supporting details, a closing sentence, and transitions. We will begin by walking through each step of the writing process together and writing paragraphs as a class. Then your students will have the opportunity to use the skills they have learned to write their own paragraphs. We will end by sharing our best work with each other. This is a great opportunity to learn or review this important skill which is essential before diving into essay writing! If you have taken this class previously, this is still a good class to take as we always focus on different examples of content and students will continue to grow and improve their skills. Homework/Time Commitment: Students can complete unfinished work at home between classes. Emails will be sent as needed with updates on what should be completed each day and needed for the next class. If your student misses a class, please be sure to check for this email about what was missed. If your student is unable to attend many of these classes, it may be difficult to keep up as each lesson builds upon the next. There will be work that needs to be done at home if a class is missed in order to be prepared for the next day’s lessons so please keep that into consideration when enrolling. Thank you!
