Course Description

Students will learn to blend sounds into words. Students will also learn 46 dolch sight words. The sounds they will blend in this 6 day course are: a, h, m, n, p, s, t, e, b, d, l, k (spelled c and _ck), i, f, g, r, w, o, n (spelled kn_), ks (spelled _x). /sh/, ch/ spelled _tch, /f/ spelled ph, /ng/ We will use finger spelling, dictation and games to learn and practice blending words and sight words. Students should recognize the letters of the alphabet and know the sounds the consonants and vowels make. The goal of the course is for each learner to blend sounds into words. The purpose of blending is to help students develop a strategy for figuring out unfamiliar words. Students will be able to blend and spell the sounds listed above by the end of the course. Students will be able to read 46 dolch sight words by the end of the course.
