From savory to sweet, learn how to make assorted baked goods completely from scratch.
Course Description
This class is a hands-on baking class where students will learn by doing! Each week, our lesson will take us from preparation through the completion of an entire recipe using easy to find ingredients and minimal kitchen equipment. Families should purchase supplies ahead of time, and students should be prepared to cook at the beginning of each class. We will review kitchen and food safety for each meeting and discuss ingredients, equipment/tools, and possible recipe alternatives. I will demonstrate each step of the cooking process, ask and answer questions, and check in with students at each step. The goal of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to learn new skills, try new recipes, and build self-confidence in the kitchen through the preparation and sharing of delicious food. Students who love to cook can meet others who share a love of cooking and be part of a supportive community of learners. **This class is booked by session. Please book each session separately. Students are not required to take every session.** Session 1: Savory Herb & Cheese Scones Thursday, September 19th; 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Whether you eat them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these scones are savory and delicious. Session 2: Chocolate Chip Muffins Thursday, September 26th; 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Learn how to make these delicious bakery style muffins that are a yummy sweet treat and hard to resist! Session 3: Soft Pretzel Bites Thursday, October 3rd; 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm These soft pretzel bites are like homemade soft pretzels but in bite size pieces and just plain fun to make then eat. Session 4: Brioche Buns Thursday, October 10th; 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Brioche buns are buttery and slightly sweet ~ the perfect bun to serve alongside dinner or make into a sandwich. Session 5: Pita Bread Thursday, October 17th, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Learn how to make this simple flatbread that can be used to scoop up your favorite dip or as a tasty wrap.
