Course Description

What the Class Is: In this two-day fall adventure, students will explore apple science, learn how apples grow, and discover the story of John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed. How Students Will Participate: Students will investigate a real apple, play interactive games, complete apple-themed math and science activities, explore the apple life cycle, and join Johnny Appleseed on a virtual adventure. Outcome/Benefit: Students will build early science and social studies knowledge while practicing observation, sequencing, counting, vocabulary, and listening skills—all while having some fall-themed fun! Supply List for Students: 1 apple of any variety Printed class activity pages provided by the instructor Pencil Crayons, markers, or colored pencils A few sheets of blank paper Optional: scissors and glue stick Optional: an apple cut in half by an adult for the Day 1 investigation
